Mission Accomplish !

So , 2012 is coming to an end in a couple of days ! Pheew , what a hectic year indeed !
My main goal for 2012 was weight loss , and im proud to say , after all those hours spent running and exercising , after all those moments of controlling the temptations to eat all those food and drinks , I've made it !
Seeing my old pictures , I sometimes get amazed with the wonder of the human body . How we can change from one size to another !
Willpower , dedication and self control . This 3 along with a pair of good running shoes helped me throughout my weight loss journey !
Now , let me welcome 2013 by gaining some lean body mass , by getting bigger and stronger ! Nothing is impossible as long as we dont give up !
Below is my picture when I first started my plan ! Ignore those man boobs , and screw those idiots who said it was impossible to loose them ! ( Bench-press do help ;) )

God bless , Have a splendid new year and Merry Christmas !

Beginning of Something New

The feeling of fitting into clothes you never dream of fitting in is really amazing . I've gone from size XXL to size M . I could do pushups , pullups and other stuff that I could only dream of doing when I was overweight.
Im glad I didnt give up on the way .

This past few weeks had been really hectic . I found a pic of myself taken last year November . I was about 125kg's that time .

I had modified my diet this few weeks to add more calories into my diet . Muscle growth was going on well , started observing less body fat and weight was also decreasing steadily . Current weight is 72kg with waist size of 32 inches . Targetting for 68kg with waist size of 29 inches . Hoping to see it by end of this year :)
Coming to the current progress :

I know the stretch mark looks horrible but as I understand , it will go off with time . Im really happy with the definition of the stomach . Abs , please come soon ;)

Trapezius and chest developing well :)

I shall update more in time to come when I start to see more better progress then now
Till then , have a good day and God bless :)

Burn The Fat !

It's been nearly a month since I last blogged . I had my ups and downs , the temptations to eat pizza and ice creams were haunting me nearly everyday , but I had to control it for a better tomorrow .
Being fat isn't bad , being taunted ridiculous fatty names are really bad .
Coming to the progresses I made , I found this article about this DTP program that basically allows your body to drastically build muscle and burn fat at the same time for a period of 4-6 weeks . I undertook it and within 2 weeks I was getting very positive results .
I bought a 5lb(2.2kg) tub of Whey protein as my daily protein intake was less then 50gm's . It was really helpful as it helped to maintain the muscle mass and prevent muscle wasting during the training period .

Week one of the prog was super tiring , had many bruises and sore spots on my hands , overcomed it by wearing some protectives when lifting .

Going to the results , before I started , my back was flabby and my loose skin were a devastating sight to see . I could not believe the result after Week 2 into the prog . My only supplement was whey protein .

Stomach fat has reduce tremendously but excess skin from my 50kg loss has yet to adapt back . Next  mission , Abs by December :)

Muscle definition was great , weight was still decreasing and muscle mass was increasing .

Trapezius was developing well , having a lil issue with the biceps .
Bought Lipo 6 Black Fat Burner , planning to start upon it next week to help me burn those fats on the back of my stomach and a bit on my belly .

Really happy with the progress , nothing is impossible , just dont give up . When ever your craving for chocolates or anything , just gulp down a glass of chilled water .
Take care and till my next post :)

Fat Loss Journey

Life has been a real mess this past few months ! Exams after exams . Did not had time to got to the gym and my diet plan was all haywire .
Went back home on 19th of August , I weighed bout 82kg's that time . Mum stashed me up with lots of fattening Punjabi food while I was home . I did not forget my daily cardio when I was back home .
Still after nearly a month of vacation , I gained bout 8kg's . Mostly were water fat that was easy to loose .

My final weight when I came back to Chennai was 85.6kg's on 15th of September 2012 . My size 32 pants were getting a little tight to fit in . I had to go back to my old diet plan .

I consume oats with no sugar and a little bit of grapefruit immediately after I get up in the morning followed by a light cardio session in my room constituting of squats , sit up and a few sets of pushups . Not forgetting skipping ropes , one of the most helpful heart rate elevating exercises ever out there !
I had a banana for lunch , bout 3 glasses of green tea in between , and a few almonds in between .
Went to the gym , spent bout an hour or so . Came back and immediately had spinach with tofu and a cup of warm green tea .
I followed this schedule for 5 days and I lost 5 kg's in that short time frame . I dont recommend this diet plan for a long duration of time but the results were incredible

I think I have lost enough of weight since I started in December 2011 . All in together , I lost nearly 45kg's .
Gonna start with my weight trainings soon , will update more once I see some progress

Till then Take care and God bless =)

Weight Loss Journey

I was always on the heavy side of the scale . Junk foods and soft drinks used to be my daily companion . I will eat chocolates whenever i felt hungry and I used to drink more soda's then water .

I used to hate running and exercising as I would end up gasping for air the moment I start ! My eating habit was totally wrong . Rice was my primary food choice alongside oily Chapati's every lunch and dinner daily . The desserts of ice cream with chocolate sauce wasn't helping either . All this lead to me being obese and unhealthy .

My weight when I was 17 , shot up to 100kg and I was still least bothered to do something about it .  My eating habit were still the same . I then went to India to further my studies when I was 18 and there , my eating habit became from bad to worse . I used to eat lots of Rice and Naan's daily . By December 2011 , I was at 120kg . I used to have difficulty breathing after doing basic exercises and I could not sleep properly at night and it lead to a lot of side effects !

I realized that I have wasted half my teenage life with my weight issue . People used to taunt me with names and it wasn't helping either . It was high time I did something with my weight !

I read lots of articles online regarding weight loss . There were this fruits diet , the water diet and the Atkins Diet . I , being a vegetarian , had a limited amount of protein source for my daily intake . It was quite confusing at first , but somehow I tried .

I bought a good pair of running shoes , gathered some willpower and started dieting on 1st January 2012 .

My diet included :
 No rice
 No sugar
 No chocolates
 No soft drinks
 No junk food
 No carbohydrates rich food

 5-6 glasses Green tea daily
 3-4 litres of water daily
Incorporated fruits such as watermelons , apples and mangoes in my diet
Replaced normal bread with whole wheat bread
 Took fruit juices without sugar
 Ate my green vegetables

I made it a habit to go to the gym 6 times a week , I spent 30 minutes doing cardio with aerobics and 1 hour doing weight and resistance exercises .
After a few weeks , I could already see drastic changes . I could sleep properly at night , my breathing improved , my waistline and weight went down and I felt healthier then ever .

Beginning weight , December 2011 :  120kg
                            January 2012     :  107kg
                            February 2012   :  100 kg
                            March 2012       :  88kg
                            April 2012         :  80 kg

My waistline went down from 50 inches to 36 inches . I could fit into clothes that I could never wear in the past , it felt really good .

It was not an easy journey , alot of temptations came into my way all along !
I still have a long way to go , for now Im concentrating on muscle building as after loosing alot of weight in a short time frame , my skin elasticity is yet to adapt back !

A little bit of hardwork and dedication surely helps :)
I guess thats all for now , Happy reading and God bless !!

Dentistry , Art or Science ?

When I started this course , I thought I would be dealing with Chemistry and Biology again , but to my surprise it was not as bad as I thought . We were dealing with the usual science stuff , but this time we had the chance to even participate in the experiments !
In Physiology , we pricked our own fingers for blood and we observed them under the microscope provided . We learnt how to separate our blood cells . I didnt even knew that was possible . Then we had Biochemistry , where we learnt about this chemistry stuff that leads to molecular changes in our body . We had hands on training on how to diagnose a patient suffering from diseases by observing their urine ! How cool is that :)
In Anatomy , we were first instructed to buy our real own personal human skull .

I named him Ramu :)

After a few weeks , we were introduced to the dead bodies in the Anatomy Lab that we were supposed to  observe . It was kind of freaky at first but we got used to it after a few weeks .

This is how the Human Brain looks like

Then we had Oral Histology , where we studied about the 32 teeths in our mouth . We had to actually carve the design of the tooth on wax blocks provided to study the morphology and the shape of the tooth . It was kind of irritating at first but we got the hold of it after a few months .

The end product of our carving !!

We were then introduced to Prosthodontics , which is the art of replacing missing teeths in the mouth by the means of dentures and etc .
We started fabricating dentures , it was an irritating process at first but still , we managed to catch up on it :)

This is the process where we had to arrange teeth in position before we transfered it to the denture

This is the teeth in the cast of the patient

Fabrication of the Occlusal Rims , which will house the teeth in the denture

Mind the bad work , they are just exercises and are not related to any patient

We were then introduced to Endodonticts , which was the art of repairing a tooth ! It was fun . Finally we had the chance to drill holes with our equipments =)

The plaster models of the teeths that we operated upon

We dealt with alot of handworks and it was more like a arts class . We had to draw images of cells and colour it and stuff

I have alot of pictures of the dead bodies and their organs but I dont wanna take a risk of posting them here ;)
Guess thats all for today , Take care
Till the next post =)

Malaysian Cuisine in Chennai

The memories of leaving home and flying off to this part of the world is still fresh in my mind . It always did come up in my mind whether will I get adapted with the South Indian styled dishes or would I die of malnutrition if it ever happened !
But anyways , as soon as I landed here , I found out that there was a Malaysian branch of Pelita Nasi Kandar nearby my area . Phew , what a relieve . That was my 1st stop after I settled all the irritating procedures necessary to register myself as a student .

Its located at T.Nagar , the shopping paradise of Chennai . And seriously , the crowd at this area  is freaking huge . At a normal weekend , an estimated 8000 people will be there scouting for jewelleries ,  cloths and etc .

Attached above is the map to Pelita Nasi Kandar .

Anyways , the food there is amazing .

This is few of the snapshots taken during my last visit .
The Milo Ais there is mind blowing !

This was the Kuey Tiow that I packed back . Exact same taste as the one back home .

Well that's not it , recently another Malaysian shop opened . And as usual , we Malaysians went there to try what they had to offer .
Their Bandung and their Chin Chao was simply awesome .
Its located in one of the biggest shopping complex in Chennai , The EA Mall .
Just go to the Cafeteria at the 4th floor and hunt for Bee's Kopitiam (spot for the Malaysian Flag) .

Attached above is the directions to get there .

Well thats not all either . Recently I went with a few friends to this random restaurant and I was shocked to discover Mee Goreng , Kuey Tiow , Pau and Ais Kacang in their menu .
With the taste of Mamak and Chinese together , The Cascade has opened 4 branches in Chennai . Ask any Auto-Riksham driver and he will take you to one =)

Guess I will hunt down for more shops serving more Malaysian Dishes and post em up when I find them.
